Providing a nurturing and inclusive start (foundation) for vulnerable children |
 |
The library classes begin at 4pm -6pm, Everyday from Monday to Saturday. The primary children come to read story books for leisure. The centre is trying to create a reading culture among the slum child. The free primary education does not provide enough course books at schools for the children. Therefore most children cannot do their homework and extra revision.
The library has some of these books to enable the children do the above. At the library the children are also offered remedial classes so as to catch up with their school work. This has improved most of the children’s performance.
Due to involvement of their children during after school programme we've had 5 children pass and have proceeded to join Government secondary schools. They include:-
- Milicent Anyango
- Job Opiyo
- shakira
- Emily Gesare
The children who have graduated to primary school are also involved in Bible club and other clubs. There are over 200 children and their siblings going for Bible club every Saturday from 8-1pm. After various activities they are provided with lunch. The afternoon session is when the children are involved in different clubs to keep them busy and train them on how to use their free time.
