PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS……YES WE CAN
The group members encourage each other especially the new parents who realize that they of special need children meet every Saturday to discuss progress and available services for their are not alone in the world of caring and having a disabled child. Parents, guardians and siblings attend sign language classes every Saturday from 2-4pm, this plays a great role in enabling communication with their children when they return home. It is our hope that the parents support group will be a driving force for advocacy and will be well equipped to advocate for their children rights locally and influence provision of service for their children. They are now empowered to join other regional and national lobby initiatives.
We have opened a stationery and uniform shop which is progressing well. We have started a new line of making Nanny uniform to sell in the super markets.
We have empowered 50 guardians/parents different skills and training to enable them fend for their Children.
The guardians are engaged in different skills such as Weaving, Quilting, Crochet, patch work, Bead work, shoe making and soap making. Tailoring of uniforms for different schools within Kibera urban slum.
